HOW TO PREPARE FOR CAT

As i am also a mba aspirant, the most basic question arise in every mind is how to prepare for CAT(Common Aptitude Test). CAT exams have been changing in some way or the other every year. But still it is  a mixture of strategy, planning and implementation which is very important to score well in the test.

There is no shortcut for the success; whatever the field may be one must work hard. Following are some tips for the students to excel in competitive exams:
1.    Rather than focusing on all the topics, students need to try and select those topics in which they are more comfortable, in which they can score level. Even on the exam day student must solve those question in which they are confident.
2.    In order to ace CAT, students should look at questions from previous years' CATs and understand its syllabus and the pattern.
3.    CAT aspirants should always start early in preparing for the exams as an early start would benefit them in gaining knowledge about the kind of questions can be asked. Another advantage to it is that they can be spending time in developing extra reading habits and increasing vocabulary, which is very important for each section.
4.    The best way to go on with the CAT preparations is to evaluate oneself in every 15-20 days, which is done by mock tests. But students should do critical analysis of every mock for not repeating their mistakes. if they don’t do so, the whole idea of taking mocks is lost.
5.    One thing that is must to do while preparing for CAT is to practice on calculations on an regular basis. As there won’t be long equations in CAT because all the questions are of MCQ pattern or student have to input their answers.
6.    Time management is an essential ingredient to crack the CAT exam and to make it to your favourite college. There should be a combination of speed and accuracy in the high pressure during the exam.
7.    Negative marking is a part of CAT. CAT aspirants are advised to not take guesses in the Exam paper. Only if the student is able to eliminate 2-3 options, then only he should take a guess. Otherwise there is no point in guessing, as it may drop ones chances of making it right.
8.    Last but not the least, students are advised to keep their calm, relax, and believe in them on the day of the paper. They should be ready with all the stuff needed and must be present in the examination centre on time.

Good luck for the exam!
